Twenty researchers, representing the ESRC-funded Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) health pathways, recently attended a two-day NCRM-led retreat to explore the interface of health and social science research.

The retreat was attended by a mix of DTP pathways leads, postgraduate researchers and NCRM staff. It focused on new and emerging trends and methodologies in this interdisciplinary space.

The retreat also served to create collegial connections across the DTP network, and various possible collaborations beyond the retreat are currently being explored. These include the launch of a new methodological special interest group.

NCRM’s engagement lead, Professor Mark Elliot, said: "NCRM is seeking to expand further in this space, which has been a focus for the last three years. This retreat provided both an intellectually stimulating two days and a relaxing space to encourage creative thinking and deep reflection.

"I was impressed by the creativity expressed by both senior colleagues and ECRs. New connections were forged across this really important area of research. It was two days really well spent for all who attended."
