A new NCRM learning resource explores the subject of fake news and the tools that can be used to study it.

The online resource is presented by Professor Richard Rogers of the University of Amsterdam. It comprises a 30-minute video lecture, supporting materials and videos on related topics.

In his presentation, Professor Rogers addresses the research question “To what extend does fake news (or misinformation) resonate in political spaces across social media in the run-up to the presidential election in the US?”.

The resource also covers the issues of: where the term fake news came from; how researchers can use tools to study which articles are resonating; the terms hyper-partisan sources and misinformation.
