The National Centre for Research Methods is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Senior Research Assistant/Research Fellow with previous experience of qualitative research to contribute to work on an ESRC-funded three year study under the leadership of NCRM co-director Professor Melanie Nind. The project will explore pedagogical cultures and knowledge in relation to advanced social science research methods seeking to gain practical and theoretical understanding from multiple perspectives. There will be a particular focus on case studies of pedagogical and methodological innovation and on how learners of research methods make use of available resources.
 
Within this role, you will be contributing to: recruiting participants (methods teachers and learners), making practical arrangements, preparing for, conducting and analysing interviews, focus groups based on video-stimulated recall and reflection and case studies, as well as writing reports and papers.  
 
You will have an interest in methodological development and in teaching and learning, alongside a first degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant social science discipline. You will also need to demonstrate experience of conducting qualitative research, including using interview and video. You will also be required to travel in the UK outside normal office hours including occasional overnight stays.
 
The position is available from 5 January 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
