Description:

Is 'qualitative data analysis' too vague for you? Are you wondering how to do justice to your data?

Course Overview

This short course is designed to help PhD and post-doctoral researchers to navigate the twin perils of over- and under-interpreting discourse data.

It introduces a range of key perspectives and tools used to study language and
communication ethnographically and it facilitates the study of social practice
in a wide range of different settings – education, workplace, recreation,
health etc. Initiated with ESRC funding in 2007, this will be our 9th ELC five-day course

For students from outside King's, some funding is available for bursaries, which will be allocated on the basis of relative need. There will also be a subsidy for students based at KCL.

Entry requirements:

Having qualitative data that you need to analyse (2nd or 3rd year of a PhD; post-doctoral research etc) We give priority to people: - who are either in the second year of their PhD or beyond; - whose work seems most likely to benefit from the training input.

Please note that registration is not guaranteed. Spaces on the course are strictly limited, so candidates are advised to apply as soon as possible.

The deadline for applications is 1st May 2017.

Cost:

The fee for researchers in full employment is £750.00.

The concessionary fee for students is £600.00.

For students from outside King's, some funding is available for bursaries, which will be allocated on the basis of relative need. There will also be a subsidy for students based at KCL.
