How to write a qualitative methods section for academic manuscripts by Dr Aliya H Rao.

Communicating that our knowledge claims – our arguments – are based on a robust empirical basis and deep analysis is an essential skill for researchers. Qualitative researchers, working with data gathered from interviews, ethnography, focus groups, and documents, will find themselves trying to justify their research design, data collection, data analysis in written forms including the “methods” section of a PhD dissertation (or Masters thesis), peer reviewed articles, methodological appendices in monographs, and even reports for non-academic audiences.

This workshop will provide budding scholars with the tools to write compelling methods section which transparently detail their methodological practice, and anticipate and forestall potential critiques. The workshop will consist of individual and group work.
