Description:

Training for PhD and MSc students in the design of social research, quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Questionnaire and question design (survey methods) by Dr Sally Stares.

This workshop will give an introduction to principles and practice of question and questionnaire design, drawing on the literature on the psychology of survey response, and bearing in mind the mode of administration of the survey. The workshop will include presentations from the course leader, as well as practical exercises in survey setup (using the Qualtrics platform), question design, and question trouble-spotting. By the end of the session, participants should be in a good position to design questionnaires for their own research, and to know how to pursue relevant literature for more in-depth and specialist understanding.
