With more researchers working remotely, many are asking: “Is it possible to access safeguarded Special Licence or Secure Access data from home?". Whether you are already accessing such data at your institution, or you are just preparing an application, you may be wondering if homeworking is an option for your project.
This free online session will help you identify:
What makes a project eligible for homeworking access.
How to check if your project is eligible.
How to apply for homeworking access.
Which requirements you need to meet to apply for homeworking access.
Which steps are involved in the homeworking application process.

Presenters:
Samantha Ife: Samantha works at the UK Data Service as a Data Access and Use Assistant. She supports users with any queries related to accessing and using data via the Helpdesk. She also screens applications for Special Licence and Secure Access data, corresponding with the user and the data owner. Part of her role also involves corresponding with users regarding Safe Researcher Training.
Siôn Clarke: Siôn is a Data Access and Use Assistant working for the UK Data Service’s Access Team. He has worked at the UK Data Archive since April 2024. He is here to help you with your applications and making sure you get on the right track to finding data.
Target audience: Current UK Data Service users with access to Special Licence or Secure Access data who are interested in learning more about potential homeworking access. Prospective and existing users of the UK Data Service who are considering applying, or are currently applying, for access to Special Licence or Secure Access data.
This event will be livestreamed on our UK Data Service YouTube channel but the chat will be disabled. By registering and attending the Zoom event you will be able to ask questions and interact.
Recordings of UK Data Service events are made available on our YouTube channel and, together with the slides, on our past events pages soon after the event has taken place.
