This seminar trains PhD students, professors and other professionals to apply machine learning rigorously in several fields by grounding modern algorithms in statistical principles—covering supervised and unsupervised methods, model building, performance assessment, uncertainty quantification and ethical considerations. Through case studies and hands-on coding in R using reproducible workflows, participants will learn to design honest validation strategies, interpret and report models defensibly.
