Description:

The Data Resources Training Network is holding the second webinar in their 2024 series, co-organised by the NCRM, Centre for Longitudinal Studies, Urban Big Data Centre, European Social Survey and the UK Data Service. The details of the session are found below:

Exploring Educational Outcomes through National Datasets

The webinar will focus on secondary, quantitative data. It will take place on Teams on the 14th of June from 13:30 to 15:00. The speakers will be:

  • Jools Kasmire who will give an introduction to the UKDS, the data sets available and how to access these.
  • Francesca Borgonovi who will use the rich and varied information contained in large-scale educational assessments to illustrate how gender gaps vary depending not only on what is being assessed, but also depending on when assessments are conducted and where assessments are conducted.
  • Claire Crawford  who will use Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) data to explore variation in education and labour market trajectories. In particular, she will use the richness of the LEO data to understand how these outcomes differ according to the number of years for which children are eligible for free school meals, not just the binary indicator.

Each talk will be followed by a quick-fire question and answer slot.
