Description:

This two-day course is goes beyond basic statistical analysis techniques (hypothesis testing, regression, etc.) and introduces methods for building predictive models involving multiple factors, covariates and confounding variables. It also includes models for binary, categorical and ordered category variables.

This course is aimed at those with a working knowledge of statistics who wish to learn about or improve their competence and confidence in using more advanced methods of analysing data, including psychologists, behavioural, health and social scientists. You are encouraged to bring your own data for discussion/analysis.

The topics covered in this course are factorial ANOVA, ANCOVA, binary logistic regression, multinomial logistic regression, ordered multinomial logistic regression. These topics will be demonstrated using “jamovi”, which is a free professional-level software package for statistical analysis, based on the R language.

We recommend downloading the free software in advance of the course and can give instructions if needed. Alternatively, remote access to computers in our labs can be arranged.

Prior knowledge of hypothesis testing, ANOVA and regression is essential.
