Description:

Since the 1970’s, scholars (and more recently scientific agencies) have been raising concerns regarding the incapacity of research to address ‘the real world’ and go beyond its ‘Ivory Tower’. Participatory research represents a broad tradition of research practices developed to ensure that beneficiaries and target groups are involved in the different cycles of the research—such as objectives setting, data collection, feedback and dissemination. This workshop will expose the particular benefits and challenges raised by participatory research. It is designed to provide students with the conceptual and practical tools to design and carry out participatory research with the different communities they investigate.
