Description:

This workshop will introduce participants to the state-of-the-art on process tracing methodology. We will begin by elaborating the basic ideas behind process tracing as a method for assessing causal explanations for a single case outcome of interest. We will discuss best practices and examples of good process tracing, and we will introduce the Bayesian foundations of causal inference in case studies and qualitative research more generally.

The session will include online worksheets and group exercises designed to help participants learn and apply current process-tracing techniques. Participants should bring a laptop or mobile device to access the online worksheets during the session.
