Description:
This online practical workshop looks at the basics of writing and publishing a research paper. The course focuses on how to improve the chances of your paper being accepted by writing clearly about your research and making the right strategic publishing decisions. Beyond that, we examine how to increase the impact, power and readership of your paper once it is published.
The course covers:
• How to develop an effective publishing strategy that is tailored to your career needs
• How to identify the best journals most likely to publisher your research papers
• How to write with power and persuasiveness about your research
• Key writing techniques when writing about your research
• How to edit your own work
By the end of the course participants will:
• Be better able to plan a publishing portfolio of papers and chapters based on their research
• Have a better understanding of how academic publishing and peer review works in practice
• Have a list of journals they can target for submission
• Have a range of practical techniques to plan and improve their writing
• Have a range of practical editing skills
