About SDC-Net

SDC-Net was a UK-wide network that brought together academic and nonā€academic organisations involved in the design and co-ordination of social surveys, including governments, universities and market research companies.

The aim of the network was to gather and share information about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected data collection practices and to better understand the current and future survey data collection landscape in a fast-changing world.

The group organised various meetings and events on topics of critical interest, such as innovations in survey data collection and changes to data quality. The network published guides, reviews and other online resources, which are available on these web pages.

SDC-Net was led by a core team that included Dr Olga Maslovskaya and NCRM Director Professor Gabriele Durrant, both of the University of Southampton, Laura Wilson of the Office of National Statistics, Gerry Nicolaas from the National Centre for Social Research and Professor Lisa Calderwood of University College London.

The network was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and built upon the work of two other ESRC-funded projects: GenPopWeb2 and Changing Research Practices, also linked to NCRM.
