A new NCRM training course will provide an introduction to the National Pupil Database (NPD), an administrative data resource that covers the education system in England.

The one-day online course will be run twice in 2023, on 20 September and 16 November. Participants will learn how to access and use the NPD, find out how it is structured and gain an understanding of its strengths and limitations.

This course is suitable for anyone intending to undertake quantitative research on the school system in England. No prior knowledge of the NPD or statistical code is required to access the course.

The course is being supported by Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK). Bursaries are available to cover course fees for researchers based in the UK.

Emily Oliver, Head of Research and Capacity Building at ADR UK), said: "The NPD is a rich and complex dataset with huge potential for research that can inform public policy on education. We are supporting this course to give new users a helping hand with the benefit of experienced researchers who know the dataset well."
