Creative and Authentic Co-Production Methods: Podcasts, Poems and Zines

Two people recording a podcast

Professor Sarah Marie Hall and the Austerity and Altered Life-Courses team, in collaboration with Inspire Women Oldham, delivered an innovation forum that promoted creative and authentic co-production as both a methodology and as a sharing process.

Co-created as part of ongoing and long-term research collaborations, project partners from the Austerity and Altered Life-Courses project, this series represented a commitment towards developing our work together and sharing what we know with a wider community of interested groups. This lies at the heart of what we mean by ‘authenticity’: doing collaboration with openness and purpose.

Three creative methods were used:

  1. Community podcasts
  2. Collaborative poems
  3. Zines and zine making

Outputs

The zine Why Make a Zine? was created by the group. Read the publication.

A ‘how to’ guide was also created. The group is currently working on developing a short training course, which will be delivered via NCRM soon. Please sign up to our newsletter to find out more.

This Innovation Fora project was a runner-up in the 2023 NCRM Impact Prize, which recognised the impacts of researchers who have participated in NCRM activities. Read about the impact of the project. Congratulations to the team.
