Description:

Systematic reviews in healthcare are vital to identify, bring together and appraise all high quality research evidence relevant to a given question in order to answer it. It is the cornerstone of evidence based healthcare, and provides the basis for randomised control trials to proceed. This course will equip participants with the basic skills to enable them to design and perform a systematic review of randomised controlled trials. The course covers the formulation of a review question, the development of review protocol, searching the literature and extracting data, assessing quality and how to report a systematic review. It is designed for those who new to systematic reviews or who require a refresher course. Some knowledge of literature searching is required.

At the end of the course participants should be able to develop a focussed review question, reviews studies for inclusion, and rate the quality of evidence. Delegates should have the skills to present the results of their reviews to meet the needs of healthcare priorities, and inform the design of randomised control trials.
