Stata Fast Track Workshop - Thursday, March 6, 2014 - Friday, March 7, 2014

This two-day workshop will provide an intensive 'fast-track' introduction to Stata led by Professor Vernon Gayle from the University of Edinburgh.

The course will run over two days with refreshments, and lunch provided on each day.

The course will involve short professional demonstrations followed by participants practising in short sessions throughout the day. The following topics will be covered :-

  • Setting Up Stata
  • Loading Data Files into Stata
  • Summary Statistics
  • Cross-tabulations
  • Metric and Categorical Variables
  • Correlations
  • Linear Regression
  • Logistic Regression Models
  • Multinomial Logistic Regression Models
  • Data Management
  • Graphing Data

The course is appropriate for people with some experience of data analysis who wish to use Stata.

Cost:

This training course is offered free of charge to doctoral students registered on a social science degree programme at a Scottish University or to doctoral students studying at an ESRC-funded DTC (see above).

Remaining places will be open to others for a fee:
Doctoral students studying at a non-DTC institution £60
Academic staff, ESRC funded researchers and UK registered charitable organisations £120
Others £440
