A one-day training event organised by the UK Data Service.
This workshop is aimed at those with little or no experience in the secondary analysis of survey data available from the UK Data Service. It will introduce attendees to the skills required to find and access survey data from the UK Data Service and to carry out basic secondary analyses with the survey data.
The workshop will comprise a series of presentations and practical computing sessions using SPSS and will cover the following:
- introduction to the survey data available from the UK Data Service
- finding and accessing data on the UK Data Service website
- exploratory analyses (e.g. frequencies, tables, missing values)
- working with files (e.g. hierarchical files, merging files, linking files)
- weighting the data
Pre-requisite: some experience of using SPSS
Cost
ALL bookings have a NON-REFUNDABLE administration fee of £30.

UK academic staff (including research centres), ESRC researchers, voluntary and public sector staff - £30
Commercial and others - £120
All fees include event materials and refreshments. They do not include travel and accommodation costs. Payment or proof of payment if paying by BACS must be received by the day of the workshop. Refunds for cancellation are as follows. Refund for cancellation (less administration fee) five working days before the course, NO refunds can be made after 17 June 2013.
