This course aims to provide an overview to survey data collection – for those interested in commissioning a survey, conducting one, using data from a survey or even reading a journal article which uses survey data. This course will improve your ability to do all of these things better. It gives participants an understanding of the different types and modes of survey data collection that can be used to answer key policy questions; it provides participants with an understanding and experience of devising high quality survey instruments; and gives them an understanding of what high quality means in undertaking survey data collection, learning about response and non-response, how measurement errors are produced and how they can be minimised at each stage of the survey cycle.
