Want some new ideas for bringing research methods alive to your students as you approach the end of another busy teaching year and contemplate the one ahead? Then this NCRM event is for you!

This workshop is targeted at university teachers of social science research methods at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. We invite you to find out about a range of resources and research tools which you might want to incorporate into your teaching. The day will also provide you with the opportunity to share your own ideas and good practice with other methods teachers from across the social science community.

Our speakers for the day are:

• Professor Malcolm Williams (School of Law and Social Science, University of Plymouth) on research methods field trips
• Dr Libby Bishop and Dr Bethany Morgan (Qualidata, University of Essex) and Dr Jo Haynes (University of Bristol) on using archived qualitative data sets for teaching and assessment purposes
• Professor Mike Thelwall (School of Computing and Information Technology, University of Wolverhampton) on using online cybermetric research tools in student projects and for generating discussion of key methodological issues in social science research
• Dr Nick Bardsley (NCRM, University of Southampton) on the resources available to methods teachers via NCRM

The day is funded by NCRM, and will be held at the London offices of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Early booking is advised as places are limited.
Please email Jacqui Thorp (jmh6@soton.ac.uk) with your name, institution and email address in order to secure your place.
