RMF2010 Abstracts

Session: 37 - Wedneday 7th July AM (9.15 - 12.45)

Title: Methods of research synthesis

Name: David Gough

Affiliation: Institute of Education

Abstract Details

Systematic reviews provide us with a formal explicit methodology for bringing together research evidence from all types of primary studies (and research paradigms) to inform further research and policy, practice, and individual decision making. This session will offer guidance on how to undertake a systematic review by: (i) considering four major stages of the review process (review question, searching and screening and mapping, synthesis, and knowledge use),(ii) discussing the challenges faced at each of these stages, and (iii)introducing some new ideas and techniques that can assist with these challenges.
