Making research more inclusive of the people it is about is increasingly important in social and health research. Funders and commissioners of research value collaboration in producing research findings if this means they might have greater relevance and impact. For the research teams involved there is often a political or ethical commitment to the idea, to each other, and to addressing the challenges. In this session we will present and discuss some of the contentious issues and some of the advances being made.
