RMF2012 Abstracts

Session: Tuesday 3rd July PM (16.00 - 17.30)

Title: Researching Consumption and Sustainability

Name: Ben Anderson

Affiliation: Centre for Research in Economic Sociology and Innovation, University of Essex

Abstract Details

Substantially and significantly new ways of living are urgently required if there is to be any effective response to climate change and resource scarcity. There is growing recognition of the need for fresh ways of framing problems of consumption, demand and sustainable living to support forms of intervention capable of addressing entrenched norms, habits and practices. This session will explore a range of novel approaches to the establishment of the social science knowledge required to provide an evidence base for such interventions. It will focus on innovative approaches that can provide fresh frames and catalyse new strategies.
