RMF2012 Abstracts

Session: Tuesday 3rd July PM (16.00 - 17.30)

Title: New Methods for Spatial Modelling, Simulation and Policy Analysis

Name: Mark Birkin

Affiliation: NCRM node TALISMAN, University of Leeds

Abstract Details

In this session we will focus on new ways of representing socio-economic structures and behaviour, in particular those drawing their inspiration from micro-simulation and agent-based modelling. The talks will particularly emphasise a geographical dimension, but will be of interest to all researchers with an interest in the spatial configuration of social phenomena. In particular, applied examples will be drawn from criminology, health science, retailing and geographical economics. We will draw attention to the dependencies between new simulation approaches and new methods for collection, visualisation and mass communication of geo-spatial data.
