Title: Working with Other People's Data

Abstract Details

This session will introduce some of the issues to be confronted when re-using other people's research data. The session will discuss opportunities, challenges and practicalities, such as finding appropriate data to suit research questions, assessing data for suitability and fit, and preparing data for analysis. Both qualitative and quantitative data will be discussed.

Dr. Libby Bishop of the UK Data Archive will provide an overview of uses of archived data and Dr. Jon Lawrence will talk on 'Exploring selfhood in the 1960s through secondary data analysis' based on his experience of using classic UK studies.
