Description:
This one day workshop provides an introduction to the statistical computing programme, Stata. Stata is a powerful programme widely used for data analysis in the social sciences.
The workshop will introduce:
-
The Stata computing environment;
-
Procedures for computing descriptive statistics and regression;
-
Procedures for producing effective graphics;
-
Procedures for preparing publication ready tables.
The workshop will consist of short talks and hands on activities, and will be led by Dr Roxanne Connelly, University of York, and Dr Kevin Ralston, York St John University.
This workshop is not an introduction to data analysis, and a basic level of statistical understanding will be assumed. However, no previous experience of Stata is required, and we welcome participants from all backgrounds and of all levels of expertise.
By the end of this workshop, participants will have the necessary familiarity with Stata to move on to further Stata courses and / or to develop their Stata skills independently.
