Dr. Veronica Lamarche is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex. She received her PhD from the University at Buffalo. Prior to her career in academia, Veronica worked for a private research firm, and the Government of Canada, where she first became acquainted with STATA. Although she’s used SPSS, STATA and R over the years, she will always have a soft spot for STATA.

Description:

This course provides a basic introduction to STATA, with a focus on skills relevant to individuals with a background in social science.

Students will become familiar with the structure of STATA syntax. The course is designed to prepare students for careers in fields where STATA is commonly used by employers, and is intended for students without previous experience with or only basic knowledge of the STATA platform.

Students will have time at the end of the course to test their new skills on existing datasets or on their own datasets.

You will learn;

  • How to import and manage datasets

  • How to install special packages

  • How to conduct basic statistical analyses

  • How to create their own DO files
