Description:

This workshop introduces students to Bayesian inference and provides an overview of estimation via MCMC.  The morning session will cover the core logic of Bayesian inference, its connection to Maximum Likelihood inference, and some examples of basic conjugate and nonconjugate models.  The afternoon session will cover estimation by MCMC, including a demonstration of using the BUGS/JAGS language for specifying models from within R.  The course assumes familiarity with applied regression modeling at the level of MY452/552 and, ideally, some experience with the statistical programming language R.
Session Date: 10am-4pm, Tuesday 20 January 2015
**Please note that this workshop is only available to current PhD Students (failure to produce a valid student ID card will result in no admittance to the event)**
