Description:
Ideal-type analysis is a systematic, rigorous method for forming typologies from qualitative data. It can be applied to a range of qualitative data sources, including research interviews, clinical case notes, and observation field notes. It lends itself to answering research questions that seek to identify different groups of participants with similar experiences, opinions, and perspectives. In this webinar, we provide an overview of the approach, including the steps taken to conduct an ideal-type analysis.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
• Understand when and why to use ideal-type analysis
• Describe the steps of conducting an ideal-type analysis
• Reflect on the possible place for ideal-type analysis within their own current or future qualitative research
