Description:

This proposed workshop provides an advanced training event for doctoral students working in the field of development or area studies. The one-day workshop will focus on two key themes:

  • The challenges of conducting research in developing countries – developing cultural and political sensitivity, reading political change, applying ethical frameworks to developing country contexts, security challenges, working with research assistants.

Negotiating the tensions of doing policy-related research – presenting critical findings, collaborating and managing relationships with external agencies (e.g. donor agencies, NGOs, universities) during the research process, issues for researchers from developing countries

The event is open and free to all PhD students.
