Description:

This workshop presents an overview of the main methods and tools used by social scientists to: a) pre-process text documents for quantitative analysis; b) compare documents and measure their similarity; c) classify text documents into categories; and d) extract the topics discussed in a text. In the lab session we will apply the methods covered in lecture to various types of text, such as party manifestos and social media posts.
