Description:
This workshop comprises 4 lectures on the main techniques of multivariate data analysis: PrincipalComponent Analysis, Correspondence Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Discriminant Function Analysis. We will describe the statistical concepts, assumptions and limitations of the methods. A number of worked examples will be included throughout the course, and application to biomedical data will be illustrated using a statistical package.
By the end of this course, delegates will:
- Have an appreciation of interpreting the complexities of multivariate data
- Learn the principles behind a range of methods of multivariate data analysis
- Know how to carry out some multivariate data analyses using a statistical package.
An elementary knowledge of statistical methodology including correlation, linear regression models and covariance matrix, will be assumed.
