Description:

A number of disciplines make use of visual materials - images, drawings, videos, sensory stimuli - in research investigations. These include sociology, geography, anthropology, politics and psychology. There is a rich literature on practical and methodological issues in these disciplines, and in others, and the interest in visually-oriented research projects is on the rise. The day workshop brings together experienced researchers in a variety of Social Science disciplines to share their expereince of using visual methods. This advanced methods workshop is highly relevant to postgraduate students who are starting out on their journey. It is also relevant to those who have already used visual methods and want to compare and constrast their experience with visual methods researchers in other disciplines. A hands on workshop on participatory video is planned for the day.
