Description:

The GESIS Summer School takes place annually in Cologne since August 2012. Our instructors and applicants come from a diverse set of countries and fields. The Summer School 2014 comprises a three-week (August 11-29) intensive program with 18 one-week courses and 2 short courses running in the preceding week (August 7-8). Each course can be booked separately.

Target audience:

The Summer School is designed for advanced graduate and PhD students, post-docs, junior researchers, as well as survey professionals from all relevant fields:

  • interested in improving their general knowledge and skills in survey methodology;
  • planning to run their own survey or working for a large-scale survey project;
  • desiring to update their methodological expertise;
  • wishing to engage in methodological research;
  • wanting to know more about how the data they analyze came about and how to assess their quality.

Certificates of attendance and ECTS points:

Participants completing a one-week course have the opportunity to gain European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) points from the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim. Both, short course and one-week course participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of their stay, provided they have not missed a substantial part of the course.

Cost:

The Summer School provides reduced rates for participants from academic institutions and gives a further reduction to students (including Ph.D. students).
