Aims
This workshop will provide a general introduction to computer-assisted qualitative data analysis (CAQDAS). The workshop will explain how – in general - software packages work and the differences between the various packages available. We will provide an illustration of how particular types of analysis might be undertaken in different software tools – focusing on the analytic approaches covered in the Summer School.
The Participants
The workshop will be equally appropriate to individuals undertaking postgraduate study and experienced researchers new to CAQDAS. This workshop is also suitable for people working in a range of (private, public and third sector) settings seeking to develop skills in the analysis of qualitative data. The programme is aimed at participants with little or no knowledge or experience of CAQDAS.
The Course Leader
Christina Silver is the manager of the CAQDAS Networking Project. Christina is the co-author of Using Software in Qualitative Research and author of numerous papers on CAQDAS.
Workshop Structure and Content
The workshop will incorporate the Qualitative Research International Summer School closing keynote address by Professor Lucy Yardley.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The workshop will include lecture content and small group work, with lots of opportunities to seek the advice of the facilitator.
