Aims

This workshop aims to introduce participants to the basics of action research, focusing both on the assumptions underpinning action research and on the practicalities of undertaking action research.

The Participants

The workshop will be equally appropriate to individuals undertaking postgraduate study and experienced researchers new to action research. The workshop will also be useful for individuals working in a variety of settings who wish to develop a new approach for supporting learning and change or enhancing the effectiveness of their service. The programme is aimed at participants with little or no knowledge or experience of action research.

Workshop Structure and Content

The workshop will incorporate the Qualitative Research International Summer School opening keynote address by Professor Brendan Gough.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The workshop will include lecture content, practical activities and small group work, with lots of opportunities to seek the advice of the facilitators.
