Longitudinal Research and Analysis
A four-day course run by staff from the UCL IOE Centre for Longitudinal Studies in two blocks of two days in mid-February and early March 2015.
First block: Longitudinal data and analysis
11 and 12 February 2015 (10:00 - 16:30)
For students who want to know more about longitudinal data and research design, and how longitudinal data and research can be used to answer key policy questions. Knowledge of basic statistics is required.
The course will cover:
- Longitudinal data
- Cohort data
- Panel data
- Attrition and recall bias
- First difference models
Second block: Longitudinal modelling
4 and 5 March 2015 (10:00 - 16:30)
Aims to provide the methodological and technical skills required to understand the role that longitudinal data can play in the analysis and evaluation of policy interventions. It is intended as a follow on from the 'Longitudinal Analysis' course. Knowledge of intermediate statistics is required.
The course will cover:
- Longitudinal research design
- Panel data methods
- First difference models
- Fixed effect models
- Causality
