Description:

This one-day workshop is designed for researchers undertaking quantitative research on sensitive topics. It will provide comprehensive and practical information on meeting the unique challenges of this type of research. We will cover issues that arise throughout the project life course, including choosing the right study design, designing a questionnaire & participant materials/information, applying for ethical approval, and training the interviewers. There will be interactive sessions through the day which will enable participants to put the theory into practice.

The course will draw on experiences from the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles (Natsal) but will be applicable to those conducting research in other areas which may be considered sensitive.

The workshop is designed for researchers at any stage in their career, but who are new to researching sensitive topics.
