These sessions focus on communication as the object of social research through the analysis of texts, exploring the qualitative analysis of textual data using discourse analysis. It considers the following issues: language as a form of ‘data’; selecting data for discourse analysis; practical approaches to analysing discourse; issues of interpretation and validity in discourse analysis.
