About our research programme
The Centre’s research programme is led by the ESRC strategy for a step change in research methods capacity in the UK. The Centre also aims to stimulate new developments in both quantitative and qualitative research methods and to be responsive to arising needs and opportunities. The research programme is based upon the following kinds of projects:
- Research projects focus on innovative methodological development within the context of substantive research problems. The projects are conducted by research teams across the Centre.
- Networks for Methodological Innovation (NMI) are commissioned with the aim of stimulating debate on new methodological challenges and reviewing developments within specific methodological fields.
- Methodological reviews are commissioned by the Hub. These reviews cover a range of topics including syntheses of literature in relation to methodological issues, descriptions of innovative approaches and discussions of methodological challenges. Suggestions for review topics or offers of reviews are welcome.
- Hub based research projects cover evaluations, assessments and consultations on the research and training needs of the social science community. Hub based researchers also conduct research in a range of areas relating to the social dimensions of research practice including research ethics, interdisciplinarity and behavioural experiments.
