The Festival aims to engage social scientists across a wide range of disciplines and sectors and at different points in their research careers. We are aiming to stimulate interest, raise issues, highlight opportunities and showcase new developments.

Student Posters
Research students attending the Festival are encouraged to exhibit a poster about their research at the Festival. Posters should convey something about the research topic being investigated and the methodology being employed. They can be landscape or portrait but should be A1 size and laminated (as they will be exhibited on outside walls by a covered walkway).
Posters will be judged by Festival delegates according to their overall social scientific merit, with awards to winners made at the early evening drinks reception at 18.00 on Wednesday 7 July. They can be exhibited from the afternoon of Monday 5 July onwards. The winning poster will be awarded the Jo Campling Prize consisting of an invitation to submit an article of 6000 words based on the student's research to the Academy of Social Sciences journal 21st-century Society and a book token (to be awarded on submission of the article). There will also be book tokens to the value of £50 and £30 for the runners up. Students attending the Festival should indicate their wish to exhibit a poster by ticking the appropriate box when they book.

Booking your place at the Research Methods Festival 2010
Booking commences on 1st March 2010. Early bird rates apply from 1st March to Friday 16th April. Early booking is recommended as we expect the festival to be as popular as in previous years. In the event of cancellations of booked places, refunds will be given if replacement bookings can be taken, but this cannot be guaranteed for any cancellations made after the end of May 2010.
Costs:
Early bird registration (1st March 2010 - 16th April 2010)
- Registration is £50 per day and £20 for the first day.
- Registration for full-time students is £30 per day and £10 for the first day.
Normal registration (From 17th April 2010)
- Registration is £60 per day and £25 for the first day.
- Registration for full-time students is £40 per day and £13 for the first day.
- Exhibitors: bookings for people as per standard rates; stands cost £250 for the duration of the festival.
Overnight accommodation at St. Catherine's including dinner and breakfast will cost £85 per night. Registration for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday includes lunch and mid-morning and mid-afternoon refreshments.

Sponsorship opportunities
- Inserts in conference packs: £100 per set of 1 insert in each pack.
- Inserts in conference programme booklet: £60 per page, £40 per half page.

Social activities
We have arranged guided tours of Oxford as the evening activity on Monday 5, Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 July. The guided tour is an hour and a half's walking tour, starting at 8.15 pm from St Catherine's College and ending up in a pub. Each tour, will be accompanied by a Blue Badge Guide from the Oxford Guild of Guides who will lead an entertaining and informative walk through the city. The cost of the tour is £3.00, payable in advance.
